1:48 Su-27UB pre-cut masking masks from the manufacturer Reskit make masking the glazing and the frames easier while painting a model of the two-seat Su-27UB from the Great Wall Hobby kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set from the manufacturer Reskit holds pre-cut masking masks for a model of the two-seat Su-27UB from the Great Wall Hobby kit in 1:48 scale. It is neither a kit nor a part of a model but an aid to painting: the masks are stuck onto the areas that are to stay free of paint, they are taken off once sprayed and a clean transition stays under them. It is advisable to check that the set matches your own kit.
The Su-27UB is the two-seat combat trainer version of the heavy fighter Su-27. The second seat is placed behind the seat of the first pilot, so the cockpit is longer and taller than on the single-seat version and has a canopy of a different shape. It is exactly the long glazing with several frames that tends to be the most laborious part of painting a model.
First rid the glazing of fingerprints and grease, ideally with lukewarm water and a drop of detergent, and let it dry completely. Lift the mask off the backing with tweezers with a fine point, lay it on by one edge first and only then settle the rest, so that it does not wrinkle. Press the edges down thoroughly with a toothpick or a blunt stick, otherwise paint creeps under. Spray in thin coats and rather in several passes; a heavy wet coat gets under the edge of a mask more easily than a fine spray. Remove the mask while the paint has set but has not yet fully cured, and by pulling straight up rather than sideways.
The set is an accessory to the Great Wall Hobby kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
