An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Lockheed U-2C Dragon Lady high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft in 1:48 scale from AFV Club. The set makes it possible to build both the early and the late configuration of the C version and, judging by the parts and decals included, it also offers a basis close to the A variant. The kit has an engraved surface, a glazed cockpit and a detailed breakdown.
The U-2 Dragon Lady is an American single-seat high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft with an extremely long, slender glider-like wing, able to operate at altitudes beyond the reach of most air defenses. The C version brought a more powerful engine, larger air intakes, a dorsal spine, the so-called slipper tanks on the wings and improved reconnaissance equipment. The lightened airframe and the distinctive landing gear with jettisonable outrigger wheels are among its recognition features.
Glue the long slender wing carefully and give it the correct dihedral — it defines the look of the model. Decide in advance between the early and the late configuration. Glue the plastic with thin cement. Finish the cockpit before you close the fuselage and protect the glazing with a mask. Apply a primer before painting; spray the all-black matte camouflage of the reconnaissance machines with an airbrush and even out the surface so that the seams do not show.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
