A plastic kit of the 1:72 A-6E TRAM Intruder from Trumpeter: the carrier-borne all-weather attack aircraft with the sensor turret under the nose.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Grumman A-6E Intruder carrier attack aircraft in the TRAM standard, in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The abbreviation TRAM denotes the sensor turret under the nose, thanks to which the aircraft could find targets for itself and guide precision munitions.
The Intruder was a twin-engine carrier aircraft for all-weather attack, that is, a machine that could strike at night and in cloud, when the rest of the carrier air wing stayed on deck. It was powered by two turbojets without afterburners buried in the wing roots, so the aircraft was not fast, but it carried a heavy load and had a long range. The E version is the updated form with a new radar, and the TRAM standard added a small rotating turret under the nose with an infrared sensor and a laser. Thanks to it the crew could see the target at night and guide laser-guided bombs onto it themselves. The Intruder served with the US Navy and the Marine Corps and was the backbone of carrier strike aviation until the 1990s.
The cockpit with its two side-by-side seats is clearly visible through the large canopy, so finish and fit it before closing the fuselage. Fill and sand the air intakes in the wing roots. For naval gray schemes apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats and keep the transitions between shades soft. Go over the surfaces with gloss varnish before the decals and choose a matte coat for the finish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
