The A-6E Intruder is an American carrier-based attack aircraft with its crew seated side by side under a single canopy. The TRAM form carried an additional sensor turret under the nose for finding targets and dropping bombs accurately. The cockpit is wide and even in 1:72 scale a large area of it stays visible with the canopy slid back.
Colored three-dimensionally printed elements for the instrument panel, the side panels, the seats with their belts and other surfaces of the pilot's compartment. The instruments, the scales and the lettering are finished in color, and the elements have a thickness and relief of their own, so the controls stand above the surface. They have no adhesive layer of their own: the decal paper they are printed on serves as a carrier from which you slide the element after a brief soak.
Before applying them, level the surfaces of the kit, clear them of flash, degrease them and go over them with a gloss clear coat of the Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22 type; the element has no adhesive layer of its own and holds precisely on a gloss surface. Soak the cut-out part in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds, slide it off the paper into place and press it into the recesses with a rounded tool. Do not use a decal softener or a decal setter, as their chemistry attacks the printed resin. With two seats the work takes a little longer, so it pays to proceed in stages and to help things along in broken-up places with a drop of super glue.
The set is for modelers who want the roomy cockpit of the attack aircraft finished in color without painting the small instruments. It shows to best effect on a model with the canopy slid back, when the whole cockpit is visible. The box contains only the sheet with the elements; the kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
