A plastic kit of the Armstrong Whitworth Meteor NF Mk.11 RAF Squadrons in 1:72 scale — the night fighter version of the Meteor with radar in a lengthened nose.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the night fighter Meteor NF Mk.11 in 1:72 scale, in the version with decals for RAF squadrons. The decals cover machines of RAF squadrons.
The Meteor NF.11 was the first jet night fighter of the Royal Air Force. Development and production passed to the Armstrong Whitworth firm, because Gloster was fully occupied with production of the Meteor F.8 day fighter. Its characteristic feature was the lengthened bulbous nose with the AI Mk.10 airborne radar, on account of which the four 20 mm Hispano cannon moved from the nose into the wings, outboard of the engine nacelles. The first production machines were taken over by RAF squadrons in 1951; 341 NF.11s were built for the RAF in total.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and apply a primer before painting. The long canopy glazing and the bulbous nose are worth masking and cleaning up carefully. For the typical night fighter schemes with dark upper surfaces an airbrush is the right choice; a light wash will accentuate the panel lines. Apply the squadron decals over a gloss clear coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
