Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the British night and all-weather fighter Armstrong Whitworth Meteor NF Mk.12 in the Defending UK Skies boxing in 1:72 scale. The model captures the characteristic two-seat night variant of the Meteor with a markedly extended nose in which the radar was housed. The exact contents of the package follow the given boxing.
The night fighter versions of the Meteor were produced by Armstrong Whitworth and differed markedly from the day fighters: they were two-seaters (a pilot and a radar operator) and carried radar in an extended nose. Compared with the earlier NF.11, the NF Mk.12 had a longer nose for the American AN/APS-21 radar (designated AI Mk.21 in the Royal Air Force), which was balanced by a slightly enlarged vertical tail. In Royal Air Force service these machines protected the British sky against the threat of Soviet bombers in the early Cold War.
Glue the parts with a thin modeling cement for plastic and test the joints dry; with kits of this kind careful clean-up pays off. Apply a primer before painting and use an airbrush. It pays to mask and paint the glazing of the two-seat canopy separately. Royal Air Force night fighters carried the typical dark camouflage; finish with a fine wash to bring out the panel lines.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
