1:72 Austrian Musketeers and Pikemen XVII Century

The real subject

The infantry of the 17th century rested on two pillars that needed each other. Musketeers carried a heavy matchlock musket that had to be reloaded by a lengthy procedure, which is why they fired in ranks that took turns. Pikemen protected them with long pikes that cavalry would not face, and often wore a cuirass and a helmet. Austrian infantry of this period fought in the conflicts of central Europe, and both its equipment and its formations followed the practice of the imperial armies of the day.

What the set contains

The set brings infantry figures in 1:72 scale, that is, in the size common for tabletop games and for small dioramas. The figures are plastic and are supplied unpainted. The exact number and the breakdown of poses are given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Painting tips

Separate the figures from the sprue first and gently clean up the mold seam, otherwise it will show once they are painted. A primer from a spray can works well and acrylics hold on it nicely. Work from the darkest areas toward the light ones, accentuate the folds of the cloth with a dark filler and, conversely, bring out the edges of the cuirass and the helmet with a dry brush. In this scale a restrained palette looks best, and small items such as a bandolier, a belt or a match cord can simply be suggested with a single stroke of a fine brush.

Who it is for

The set will please collectors of historical figures, players of tabletop battles and modelers building a scene from the Thirty Years' War who are looking for infantry in the right size for it.

The package contains the figures and the instructions. Paints, glue, bases and terrain accessories are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
