It holds resin castings of British 1000 lb aircraft bombs in the version without a retarding device, that is the variant meant for a classic drop from altitude. The set is cut for 1:72 scale and serves to replace or supplement the bombs, which tend to be simplified in plastic kits. The manufacturer is Eduard, a Czech company from Obrnice near Most, which issues resin accessories as a separate range for aircraft models.
The 1000 lb bomb was the standard medium-heavy bomb in Royal Air Force service and was carried by a whole range of bomber, fighter and ground-attack types. It was made in two basic guises that differ in the tail section. The free-fall version has an ordinary stabilizing tail and is used for a drop from greater altitude, where the aircraft has room enough to leave the bomb behind. The retarded version, by contrast, has a deploying decelerator that allows a drop from low altitude. It is exactly the shape of the tail section that is the main visual difference between the two versions, and it is worth checking against it which of them your model needs.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that the remains of mold release agent come off the surface, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc; do not snap them. Sand wet and with respiratory protection, because resin dust should not be breathed in. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, since ordinary plastic cement has no effect on resin. Apply a primer before painting, and the metal parts of the bombs then shade well with a dark wash into the scored lines and a fine dry brush on the edges.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the aircraft model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
