About product

BT-2 in 1:72 scale (UM)

An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet BT-2 fast tank in 1:72 scale from UM. The package holds plastic sprues, decals and assembly instructions. The model is intended to be glued and painted.

The real subject

The BT-2 was the first of the Soviet BT series of convertible wheel-and-track fast tanks, developed at the start of the 1930s. It was based on the American concept of the designer Christie and stood out for the ability to run on tracks as well as on wheels and for high speed. It served the Soviet armored units and became the basis for the later types of the BT series.

Building and painting tips

Use liquid cement on the plastic and cut the small running gear parts off carefully. Finish the running gear and the tracks before you close the hull. We recommend a primer, a single-color or camouflage finish with an airbrush and weathering with washes and dust pigments on the lower areas and the track tread.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of Soviet interwar and early war vehicles in 1:72 scale
  • Modelers of light and fast tanks
  • More advanced builders, because of the small running gear parts
  • Builders of dioramas of the 1930s and 1940s

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
