An injection-molded plastic kit of the Dornier Do 22 floatplane in 1:72 scale from RS Models. It is a short-run kit of a less common prewar machine, with the finer molding and the more delicate fit of parts typical of such kits. Check the exact contents of the set and the number of marking options against the particular boxing.
The Dornier Do 22 was a German multipurpose floatplane of the late 1930s, built for torpedo and bombing attack, reconnaissance and maritime patrol. It was created above all for export and was operated in small numbers by Greece, Yugoslavia, Finland and Latvia among others. It was a slender high-wing monoplane on a pair of floats with a crew of three; a landplane version with fixed wheeled landing gear also existed.
As with short-run kits, dry-fit the parts first, clean up the molding gates and glue the joints with a thin plastic cement. Fit the cockpit glazing carefully, ideally with masks. Pay attention to the fit of the floats and their struts so that they sit at the right spacing and angle. Apply a gloss coat before the decals; the undersides of the floats take marks of use on the water well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
