The first British jet bomber, the 1:72 English Electric Canberra B.2, is a plastic kit from AMP.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit covers the B.2 bomber version, that is the first series-built form of the jet Canberra. The model has a broad wing and a glazed nose, so even in this scale it looks airy and unmistakable in a display case.
At the close of the 1940s the British company English Electric built a bomber on a simple recipe: a large wing area and two jet engines buried in the wing. The result was a machine with an outstanding ceiling that the fighters of the day could not at first reach. The B.2 version added two more crew members to the pilot and a glazed nose for the navigator and bombardier. The type spawned a long line of derivatives, flew with many foreign users and its design was even built under license on the other side of the Atlantic.
The nose glazing is the main theme of the whole build. It pays to polish the clear part, to glue it with a cement that gives off no fumes and to mask the frames with narrow strips. Glue the long wing on a flat surface and watch the dihedral so that the model does not sit crooked. Finish the large unbroken surfaces with thin layers of paint and bring out the panel lines only discreetly, otherwise you will break the airframe up visually.
Only the kit parts are included. Paints, glues and accessories are not in the box, unless stated otherwise.
