This is an add-on photo-etched set of thin brass, not a standalone model. It holds the parts of a decorative wrought-iron fence in the European style in 1:72 scale. The set is meant for building dioramas, vignettes and display bases, to which it adds the fine architectural detail plastic moldings cannot capture.
A wrought-iron fence used to be a typical feature of European towns, railway stations, villas and public buildings in the first half of the 20th century. In a diorama it bounds the scene, creates natural leading lines and gives the setting a civilian, inhabited character. The flat photo-etched parts faithfully imitate the shaped bars and ornaments of the original.
Nip the parts out of the fret with a sharp knife on a surface, and take the bends over a bending tool or a metal ruler. Glue with cyanoacrylate, and degrease the surfaces before painting. Spray a base of dark primer, and then create the metal, the rust and the flaking finish with washes and pigments.
This is an add-on set, not a standalone model. The base, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
