An injection-molded plastic set of figures from Zvezda in 1:72 scale. It captures French infantry from the period of the Hundred Years' War (the 14th and 15th centuries) — foot soldiers, crossbowmen, spearmen and axemen, a commander and a standard bearer. The set holds a large number of figures in twelve different poses, so it serves for building numerous formations as well as small groups. The figures are unglued and unpainted.
The Hundred Years' War (1337-1453) was a long dispute between France and England over succession and territory. The French side relied on heavily armored cavalry as well as foot contingents supplemented by mercenaries — among others Italian crossbowmen. The gear and armament of the time included plate, mail armor, spears, axes, swords and crossbows; it is precisely these elements that the set captures in a small scale. The period is rewarding for historical modelers as well as players of tabletop war games.
Separate the figures and the accessories from the sprues with a sharp knife and glue them with thin cement for plastic. Apply a base color (primer) before painting. The metal of the armor stands out in metallic shades with a dark wash into the recesses, while the textiles and the heraldry can take richer colors; the faces and the details are refined with the technique of glazes and a dry brush.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
