Eduard photo-etched parts for a model of the TBM-3 Avenger torpedo bomber in 1:72 scale. Thin metal replaces the places where plastic is necessarily thick.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Avenger was a carrier torpedo bomber of American design, the largest single-engine machine of its kind of the Second World War. It carried a crew of three and a torpedo or bombs tucked away in a fuselage bomb bay, it had a rotating gun turret on its back and its wings folded along the fuselage for stowage on deck. The versions designated TBM were built under license at the Eastern Aircraft division of the General Motors corporation, while machines from the parent Grumman factory carried the designation TBF.
Etched parts are made of thin metal sheet, so they reach a thickness that injection-molded plastic can never have in this scale. That is exactly why photo-etching is used in places where a plastic part looks coarse. The metal moreover holds its shape once bent, which comes in handy with parts that are meant to be thin and straight at the same time.
The etched parts are supplied on their own. The kit, paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. The placement of the individual parts is given by the instructions of the manufacturer.
