1:72 IDF Merkava Mk IV is a plastic kit of the Israeli Merkava Mk. IV battle tank in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit covers the Israeli Merkava battle tank in its fourth generation. The 1:72 scale suits modern tanks well: the model still has legible detail, but it takes up a fraction of the room in a display case and is easy to add to with other vehicles of the same size. Hobby Boss runs a whole group of Israeli tanks in this scale, so a collection can be extended with earlier generations of the same family.
The Merkava is an Israeli battle tank designed on an unusual concept: the powerplant is at the front, so the engine and the transmission form another layer of protection for the crew, and at the rear there is a compartment with a door that serves for boarding and for evacuating the wounded. The fourth generation is the heaviest and the best protected, it carries a 120 mm smoothbore gun and modular armor that can be replaced piece by piece after a hit. Also characteristic are the chain skirts protecting the underside of the turret and the wedge-shaped silhouette of the front. Vehicles of this generation entered service in the first decade of this century and form the backbone of the Israeli armored units.
In a small scale the cleanness of the work decides everything: sand the sprue gate remnants away carefully and use the glue sparingly. Finish the running gear before you close the hull up. Even the surface out with a primer, lay the Israeli sand-gray shade down with an airbrush and leave it uneven, so that the areas do not look flat. A thin wash brings out the hatches and the joints of the armor modules, and dust on the fenders and the lower hull settles the model into its surroundings. Leave the chains under the turret darker than the hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
