The Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate was a Japanese single-seat fighter of the closing part of the Second World War with a radial engine. It was among the best performing aircraft of the Japanese Army Air Force and the Allies gave it the code name Frank. The cockpit is tight, which makes a carefully executed instrument panel stand out all the more.
Color 3D interior elements in 1:72 scale intended for the Ki-84 kit from Arma Hobby. They complete the instrument panel, the cockpit side walls and the seat with belts with printed color and raised relief. In 1:72 scale this is a difference that is clearly visible once the canopy is closed. The layout of the elements is shown in the instructions from the manufacturer, which also tell you which parts of the kit stay unchanged.
Wash the plastic under the elements, degrease it and let it dry. If the instructions recommend sanding the engraved detail where an element is to go, sand it smooth. Lift the elements with smooth-jawed tweezers and place them accurately the first time, as repeated shifting damages them. Before applying them, check in the instructions how the elements are fixed to the parts; the procedure differs between the individual Kelik ranges and the instructions enclosed with the set decide. A light matte coat over the finished interior is enough, as a heavy coat of clear would fill the relief. It pays off to match the rest of the cockpit in shade so that the elements do not look out of place.
