1:72 MiG-3 - interior 3D decals for Armory kit

The real subject

The MiG-3 is a Soviet single-seat fighter of the early Second World War, with a slender fuselage and long cockpit glazing. Under the sliding part of the canopy the instrument panel and the side walls of the cockpit are visible, and a plastic kit in 1:72 scale captures them only in rough outline, with the dials usually having to be drawn in with a brush.

What the set contains

Colored three-dimensional interior elements prepared for the kit from Armory in 1:72 scale. The graphics are layered and slightly raised, so the dials, switches, panel lettering and seat belts stand above the surrounding surface and the cockpit gains depth. It does away with painting small instruments as well as with folding fine photo-etched parts.

Application

First spray the cockpit with the base color and let it dry completely; the surface under the elements has to be smooth, clean and degreased. Before applying them, check the manufacturer's instructions to see whether the elements are self-adhesive. The application procedure differs between the individual ranges and is given in the instructions enclosed with the set. Separate the individual pieces with a sharp blade, transfer them with tweezers and press them down with a soft tool so that they sit into the corners and over the edges of the panels.

Who it is for

For the modeler who wants a legible interior in the cockpit, especially when building a model with the canopy slid open. The work takes about an hour and even a less experienced builder will manage it, but tweezers with fine points and good lighting are useful. The set does not contain the kit, paints or glue, unless stated otherwise.
