An injection-molded plastic kit of the British First World War Mk I tank in the Male version in the special modification for service at Gaza, in 1:72 scale from Master Box. It is an unassembled and unpainted model of the first tank in history to be committed to battle. The package contains plastic sprues, tracks and a decal; the box states the exact parts breakdown.
The Mk I was the first tank sent into battle, initially in 1916 on the Somme. Its characteristic rhomboid shape, with the tracks running around the whole hull, was meant to cross trenches and wire obstacles. The Male version carried two 6-pounder guns in two side sponsons, with which it could destroy fortified positions and machine gun nests; machine guns supplemented them. The Gaza modification refers to the service of British tanks on the Middle Eastern front against Turkish forces, where the vehicles were fitted with equipment for desert conditions.
First glue the two hull halves together carefully and start with the tracks, which frame the whole outline. The side sponsons with their guns are a feature on show, so pay attention to how they sit. The base coat is usually a uniform khaki or desert brown; a wash brings out the rivets and the engraved detail, and dust pigments add a desert finish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
