A plastic kit of the early version of the P-51B fighter in 1:72 scale from the Hobby Boss Easy Assembly range. The set offers a low part count and large assemblies, so it builds quickly and without experience. The boxing contains a clear cockpit part and decals for two color finishes.
The P-51B was the version of the Mustang in which the potential of the engine derived from the British Merlin first came fully into its own. Unlike the later form it carried a framed canopy and a faired fuselage spine. It was with this version that the Mustang gained the ability to escort bombers over long distances and became one of the key fighters of the Second World War.
The build is undemanding thanks to the large parts; even so, clean up and fill the joints. Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic and apply a primer before painting. Glossy metal surfaces come out well with a metallic paint on a smooth base; settle the decals on a gloss clear coat so that they blend into the surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
