A set of turned barrels for a model of the PzKpfw VI Tiger I heavy tank in 1:72 scale: the barrels of the MG 34 machine guns, the barrel of the 88 mm KwK 36 L/56 cannon with the late muzzle brake and the gun mantlet in its final form.
Responsibility details are not available.
The PzKpfw VI Tiger I was a German heavy tank of the Second World War. Its main weapon was an 88 mm cannon designated KwK 36; the L/56 figure after the designation means that the barrel was fifty-six times its own caliber long, that is about five meters. The secondary armament was formed by MG 34 machine guns, one in the front of the hull and the other coaxial with the cannon in the turret.
The set holds the barrels of the MG 34 machine guns, the barrel of the KwK 36 L/56 cannon with a muzzle brake of the late shape and the gun mantlet in its final form. The tank changed during production, so the muzzle brake and the shape of the mantlet are among the parts by which it can be told which part of the production run a given machine comes from. The set is therefore aimed at the modeler who is building a particular later machine and wants these features right.
A plastic barrel in this scale is molded from two halves, so a lengthwise seam is left on it, and the muzzle is usually solid. A turned metal part is perfectly straight, clean all around and has the muzzle genuinely drilled. The difference shows at first glance, because the barrel is the most conspicuous line of the whole model.
What is supplied is a set of replacement parts. The tank model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
