This injection-molded plastic kit depicts the Retriever rocket, a classic concept for a spacecraft, in 1:72 scale. The set is molded in white and clear plastic and holds a detachable module with a figure in matching scale, a stand and decals. Thanks to the low part count it is a kit that can be finished in a fairly short time.
The Retriever belongs to the visions of space transport of the early 1950s, which came out of collaboration between designers and illustrators and were popularized in the press and on television of the day. It is not a machine that actually flew but an iconic design that shaped the public's ideas of travel into space in the early part of the space age.
Glue the parts with thin plastic cement and sand the mold seams back. Glue the clear parts with PVA glue so that they do not fog. For a smooth glossy surface on the body, a primer, fine sanding between coats and spraying with an airbrush all suit; apply the decals over a gloss base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
