The Sukhoi Su-17 (1949) is a plastic kit of the experimental Soviet aircraft in 1:72 scale from A&A Models.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian brand A&A Models, which concentrates on rare and experimental subjects. The model represents an early Soviet experimental fighter of 1949, and it should not be confused with the later well-known fighter with variable-geometry wings of the same designation. The package holds plastic sprues, etched parts, self-adhesive masks and decals; the exact contents are given on the packaging.
The Su-17 of 1949 was a research aircraft of the Sukhoi design bureau, intended to explore flight at high speeds close to the speed of sound. Among its most interesting features was a jettisonable nose section with the cockpit, which was to serve as a means of escape. The project never reached production in the end, yet it represents a valuable and little known piece of the history of Soviet jet aviation of a kind that ordinary makers do not offer.
This is a kit with delicate parts and etch, recommended to more advanced modelers. Glue the plastic with thin liquid cement and the etch with super glue. Use the masks supplied on the glazing. Spray the metal or light surface of the prototype with an airbrush over a smooth base; keep the weathering restrained, as suits a test machine.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
