An injection-molded plastic kit of the Su-24MR tactical reconnaissance aircraft in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the angular fuselage with two side-by-side seats and above all the variable-geometry wing, which can be built in the spread as well as the swept position. The package holds clear parts and a decal sheet with two marking options. The exact number of parts is given in the instructions in the box.
The Su-24 was a Soviet two-seat bomber with a variable-geometry wing intended for strikes in all weather. The Su-24MR version is a specialized tactical reconnaissance variant — in place of gun armament and part of the strike avionics it carries camera and sensor equipment for gathering intelligence. The variable-geometry wing allows a low fast dash as well as economical flight over a long distance.
Glue the parts with a thin plastic cement; set the variable wing mechanism so that it holds the sweep angle you choose. Lay down primer before painting. Soviet and Russian tactical schemes of several shades of green and brown are typical. Finish the cockpit before the fuselage is closed up, mask the glazing and emphasize the panel lines with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
