A decal set in 1:72 scale on the history of the German combat wing Kampfgeschwader 51 with the nickname Edelweiss. Classic waterslide decals.
Responsibility details are not available.
Kampfgeschwader 51 was a combat wing of the Luftwaffe of the Second World War period, which carried the nickname Edelweiss. The set is devoted to the history of this wing, so it is not the marking of a single machine but a selection from a longer stretch of its service. Which particular aircraft and which periods the sheets cover is given in the instructions enclosed with the set; you also choose the machine you want to build from that.
These are classic waterslide decals. First even the surface of the model out with gloss varnish, because on a matte coat air stays under the decal and a silvery rim appears around the marking. Cut the decal out as closely as possible, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it begins to move freely on the backing paper. Then lay it against the model and move it into place with a fine brush, and blot the excess water off with a cloth from the center toward the edges.
On engraved lines and rivets a decal will not settle on its own. Put a drop of softener on it and let it work; it will ripple and, once dry, sink into the relief. Once it is dry, go over the model with gloss varnish so that the edges disappear, and finally unify it with matte or satin varnish to match the surface of the model.
The aircraft model, the paints, the varnishes and the softener are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
