A matte dark green from the Vallejo Mecha Color range, carried under the number 69.030. Dark green is the classic base color of military vehicles and serves just as well on machines from sci-fi worlds. It tends to be the lower coat of a multicolor camouflage and at the same time the tone against which lighter areas, warning markings and chipping stand out.
Dark shades tend to shrink a model optically and hide its shape. It therefore pays to grade the surfaces: breathe a lighter tone onto the centers of large panels, leave the edges dark and blend the transition with several light passes. A matte surface takes such lightening well and at the same time accepts glazes into the recesses and dry-brushed edge highlights. Before decals, first coat the area with a gloss varnish; once they are applied and dry, the gloss is knocked back to matte again.
Shake the bottle thoroughly before use so that the settled pigment returns into the paint. Apply several thin coats instead of one heavy one; dark green covers willingly and a heavy coat would needlessly drown the raised relief of the surface. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the maker's instructions on the packaging, and likewise the way to clean brushes and the airbrush. Let the paint dry between coats and judge the shade only once it is dry, because when wet it looks darker.
It will be appreciated by builders of military vehicles, robots and sci-fi machines looking for a dark green with a matte surface as a base for further layering.
Thinner, brushes and an airbrush are not included, unless stated otherwise.
