A resin KAB-500Kr guided aerial bomb in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The resin print manages the body, the tail surfaces and the cover of the seeker head in one piece. It is not an aircraft model but a separate store to be hung on the pylon of a finished model.
KAB is the designation of Soviet and Russian corrected aerial bombs, that is of conventional bombs with a guidance system added. The version marked Kr uses television guidance: before release the operator hands the seeker head a picture of the target, and the bomb keeps it in its field of view by itself during the fall. The carrier can thus withdraw immediately after release. On a model you will recognize it by the window at the nose and by the prominent tail surfaces.
Release the part from the print supports with a scalpel and wet-sand the pads down, with respiratory protection. The smooth body of the bomb gives away every scratch, so work the sanding marks out with progressively finer grits. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting. The seeker window is done in a clear coat or a dark gloss.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
