A resin KAB-500L guided aerial bomb in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The resin print manages the body, the tail surfaces and the seeker head in one piece. It is not an aircraft model but a separate store to be hung on the pylon of a finished model.
KAB is the designation of Soviet and Russian corrected aerial bombs, that is of conventional bombs with a guidance system and steerable tail surfaces added. The letter L stands for laser guidance: the bomb homes on the reflected beam with which the target is illuminated either by the carrier or by an observer on the ground. The price for that accuracy is the need to hold the illumination until impact, so the aircraft has to stay in the area longer.
Release the part from the print supports with a scalpel and wet-sand the pads down, with respiratory protection. The smooth body of the bomb gives away every scratch, so work the sanding marks out with progressively finer grits. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting. The seeker window is done in a clear coat or a dark gloss.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
