AFV Fantasy Color Wolf Grey - a spray paint from Vallejo

This is a modeling paint in an aerosol spray from the Spanish brand Vallejo, listed under the shade name Wolf Grey. It is not a bottled paint for a brush nor a concentrate for an airbrush; the spray is a finished product ready for spraying, which is neither thinned nor poured into another tool. The exact tone of the shade cannot be worked out from the name, so compare it against the maker's color chart before buying.

Use

• Let the can come to room temperature before the work. A cold spray lays the paint on coarsely and unevenly and more readily spits a drop.
• Shake it long and thoroughly, at least a minute after the mixing ball starts to rattle inside. Too short a shaking is the most frequent cause of a grainy and uneven surface.
• Always make a test burst on a waste piece of plastic. That will tell you the shape of the cone, the output and that the nozzle is not dried up from last time.
• Move in a steady sweep across the whole part, beginning and ending off the model. Stopping in one place makes runs.
• Lay on several thin coats rather than one thick one and let the paint set between them. Shake the spray again during the work.
• Once you have finished spraying, turn the can upside down and press briefly, until clean propellant comes out. That clears the nozzle for next time.

Who it is for

It suits modelers who need to cover larger areas quickly and evenly, such as fuselages, hulls, bases or terrain items, without bringing out a compressor. For fine details, transitions and modulation a bottled paint and an airbrush are the better choice.

The aerosol can is pressurized and flammable. Work in a ventilated space or outdoors, away from any open flame and with protection for your airways. Do not expose the can to temperatures above 50 °C and do not pierce it even once it is empty. Do not thin the spray line with thinners meant for bottled paints.
