A resin model of the B-8M1 rocket pod in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. It is a pod with tubes for unguided rockets that hangs on a pylon under the wing. A rocket pod is exactly where resin printing pays off most: the mouths of the tubes stay open and you do not have to drill them. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for the armament.
The B-8M1 is one of the most widespread Soviet and Russian rocket pods. It carries unguided rockets of a smaller caliber, a large number of which fit into the pod, and fires them in a salvo. It is precisely the large number of rockets in a single pod that makes this weapon effective against area targets. The pods hang under the wings of ground-attack aircraft and helicopters alike and rank among the most commonly seen external stores of all.
Release the part from the print supports with a scalpel and level the seating face. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Darken the inside of the tubes before you fit the pod. After use the mouths tend to be sooted, so a fine dark tint drawn rearward with the airflow works well. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
