A Vallejo brush of natural fibers intended for the drybrush technique. Shorter, springy and reasonably stiff fibers spread only a minimum of paint over a surface, so the paint catches on the edges and raised detail and brings those to the fore. The Medium size has a wider mark than the Small variant: it works faster and suits larger areas such as the hulls and superstructures of vehicles, the sides of ships, terrain, bases and larger figures. If you need to pick out small detail and rivets subtly, reach for the Small size instead; having both is ideal.

Use

• Pick up only a very little paint, thicker if possible.
• Wipe almost all the paint off on a paper towel, because the brush has to leave a barely visible mark.
• Pass over the surface with light, quick strokes; the paint clings to edges, rivets and raised parts.
• Work in layers and add the effect gradually, because an overdone drybrush is hard to correct.
• A lighter shade over a darker base is the typical approach (picking out edges, dust, scuffs, wear).

Care of the brush

• Do not let paint dry at the ferrule, which is where a brush most often gives out.
• After the work, wash it according to the type of paint (acrylic at once with water and soap).
• Set the hair back into shape and store the brush hair upwards.

Who it is for

For modelers of military vehicles, builders of dioramas and terrain and painters of figures who need to pick out texture on larger areas. Suitable as a companion to the smaller size for detail work.
