Moss Green in the finest grade is not meant to make a lawn but what grows where grass does not dare: a seedling in the joint of paving, a green film on the north side of a stone, a carpet in a waterlogged hollow under trees or a border along a damp wall. The range of 0.1 to 1 mm covers both the dust fraction, which merges into a continuous surface, and small grains that stay visible as individual tufts.
Greenery decides whether a scene looks alive or like tinted gravel, and the rule is a single one: vegetation grows only where it has water and quiet. It has no place in wheel ruts, but it belongs in the strip between them. It does not reach places where people walk, but it flourishes at the foot of a wall, around a downpipe and in the shade behind a building. Several islands of different sizes work better than a continuous strip along a whole edge.
The material is picked up on the tip of a damp brush or a toothpick and placed in spots into a drop of glue, not scattered over an area. Blot any excess away at once, otherwise the green spreads into its surroundings and the area flattens into one tone. In color the islands are brought to life with dots of lighter and darker green, because real vegetation is never a single color.
The best result comes from joining it with taller elements. Around a tuft or under a bush this granulate fills the foot and hides the gluing point, which otherwise stays visible. It works the same way around the trunk of a tree, where the transition between bark and soil tends to be the hardest place in a whole build.
Leave the green areas in the minority. When there are too many of them, a scene looks like a garden; a few well-placed islands, by contrast, make sure the viewer notices exactly those.
