This set of weathering products is put together around a single theme: dry earth. That is, what clings to the tracks and the running gear after driving in dusty terrain, and the traces that a vehicle leaves in dry ground. The modeler therefore does not have to put the combination of products together item by item. What exactly the package contains and how the individual products are applied and thinned, if at all, is given in the manufacturer instructions on the packaging.
A dry deposit behaves differently from mud. It stays mainly on the lower parts, on the guide horns, in the space between the wheels and on the underside of the fenders, where nothing wipes it off. Its color tends to be lighter than the surrounding paint and it fades with height above the ground, so the upper surfaces stay only lightly dusted. On the contact surfaces of the tracks, on the other hand, the earth is worn away and the metal is polished, and that is the difference that brings a finished model to life most of all.
Work in layers and from the bottom up. First let the base coat and the markings dry completely, then bring out the recesses and the engraving, and only at the end add dust and earth. Go sparingly and in small steps, because taking away is always harder than adding, and remove any excess right away. Leave the matte varnish for the end, otherwise further layers are harder to correct underneath it.
