Drybrushing is the quickest way to pull the shape out of a finished model. A little paint is picked up on the brush, the vast majority is wiped off on a paper towel, and only then is the brush drawn lightly across the surface. The paint clings only to the raised places, that is to edges, rivets, fabric and traces of wear, while the recesses stay dark. The model thereby gains a visual depth that a uniform coat on its own does not have.
This set is put together from blue shades, so it suits anywhere the base color has a cool tone: blue uniforms and fabrics, naval finishes, dark blue bodywork and the lightening of shadows in a dark finish. The shades in the set follow on from one another, which makes it possible to build the transition from the base to a light highlight step by step. The manufacturer states the exact make-up of the set, the number of bottles and their volume on the packaging.
Shake the bottle thoroughly before use. Use an older brush with stiffer bristles, because the technique wears one out quickly. Work from the darker shade to the lighter one, and prefer several light passes to one heavy one, since excess paint is hard to remove. The manufacturer gives the thinner intended for this line and the thinning ratio on the packaging; reach for the same thinner when cleaning brushes.
