About product

KK-1 ejection seat 1:48 from Temp Models

The set contains a 3D printed resin replica of the Soviet KK-1 ejection seat in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft but a replacement for the seat from the kit, which in the older molds is usually coarse and simplified. The print holds the definition of the harness straps, the handles and the frame, which bring a cockpit to life at once.

The real subject

The KK-1 is an early Soviet ejection seat, carried by the MiG-15 and MiG-17 fighters and their two-seat versions as well as by the L-29 Delfin trainer. It was a simple first-generation solution in which the pilot had to separate from the seat himself after the ejection and use his own parachute. Its structure is therefore considerably simpler than that of the later KM and K-36 seats. In photographs of open cockpits the frame and the guide rails are clearly visible.

Building and painting tips

First wash the 3D printed parts in warm water with a little dish soap, so that they are rid of the residue of printing resin. Cut the supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and sand the marks down with your airways protected. Resin does not bond with cement for polystyrene, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Lay a thin coat of primer on before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on a smooth print. The seat comes out best after drybrushing on the edges and after the harness straps and the handles have been painted in a different shade.

Who the set is for

  • A replica of the KK-1 ejection seat in 1:48 scale
  • A resin 3D print with fine resolution
  • An accessory set, not a model of an aircraft
  • The seat of the MiG-15 and MiG-17 fighters and the L-29 trainer
  • Calls for cyanoacrylate glue and a primer under the paint

The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It is not. This is an accessory set for another kit; the package contains neither the aircraft itself nor its parts.

It was carried by the MiG-15 and MiG-17 fighters and the L-29 Delfin trainer. The later types were given seats of the KM and K-36 series.

With cyanoacrylate glue, that is with a superglue. The resin of a 3D print does not react to cement intended for polystyrene.
