The KM-1 ejection seat 1:48 is a 3D printed resin replica of the Soviet KM-1 ejection seat in 1:48 scale for completing the cockpit of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains a 3D printed resin replica of the Soviet KM-1 ejection seat in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft but a replacement for the seat from the kit, which in the older molds tends to be coarse. The print holds the definition of the harness straps, the handles and the frame, thanks to which an open cockpit gains depth at once.
The KM-1 is a Soviet ejection seat, which in the 1960s replaced the earlier first-generation solution. It was carried above all by the MiG-21 fighters in their later versions. Against its predecessors it allowed an escape at lower altitudes and speeds as well, and the pilot separated from it automatically after the ejection. In the cramped cockpit of the MiG-21 the seat takes up a large part of the space and is immediately visible.
First wash the 3D printed parts in warm water with a little dish soap, so that they are rid of the residue of printing resin. Cut the supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and sand the marks down with your airways protected. Resin does not bond with cement for polystyrene, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Lay a thin coat of primer on before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on a smooth print. The seat comes out best after drybrushing on the edges and after the harness straps and the handles have been painted in a different shade.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
