R-55 AM guided missile, 1:48 is a 3D-printed resin replica of the Soviet heat-seeking short-range air-to-air missile in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds a 3D-printed resin replica of the Soviet R-55 air-to-air guided missile in 1:48 scale, which the manufacturer keeps under the designation R-55 AM. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for the external stores. The print holds the small fins and the detail of the seeker head, which on a missile this slender a mold simplifies.
The R-55 is a Soviet short-range air-to-air guided missile with infrared guidance, created by reworking an older family of command-guided missiles. It served as supplementary armament for MiG-21 fighters and Su-15 interceptors. Against modern short-range missiles it was less agile, but it was simple and very widespread. The slender body with its small fins is unmistakable for this family.
Wash the 3D-printed parts in warm soapy water first, to get rid of any print resin residue. Cut the print supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as you can and sand the marks away with respiratory protection. Resin does not bond with polystyrene cement, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a thin coat of primer before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold well on the smooth print. Assemble and paint the armament separately and glue it to the pylon only once the varnish has dried, so that the fine surfaces do not get rubbed.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
