Kh-29T guided missile in 1:32 scale from Temp Models

The set brings a 3D printed replica of the Kh-29T guided missile, in transliteration also written X-29T, in 1:32 scale from Temp Models. It is not a model of an aircraft but underwing armament with which you complete a finished build. The printed rendition gives the crisper edges of the stabilizing and control surfaces and finer surface detail than injection-molded plastic offers, and it does without a seam line across the whole body of the missile.

The real subject

The Kh-29 is a Soviet and Russian air-to-ground missile with a heavy warhead, intended against hardened targets such as bridges, shelters or reinforced structures. The version designated T is television guided: before launch the operator picks the target on a screen and the missile then holds it on its own. Against the lighter air-to-ground missiles the Kh-29 is substantially more massive, which is clearly visible on a replica in 1:32.

Building and painting tips

The parts are printed from resin and are held only by thin supports. Cut them off with a sharp scalpel as close to the part as possible, sand the marks down with fine sandpaper and protect your airways while sanding. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint holds longer on a smooth print if you lay a thin coat of primer under it. Paint the underwing weapons separately and glue them onto the model only after the landing gear and the cockpit are finished.
