A resin set of exhaust nozzles for the AL-31F engines of a model of the Su-33 carrier fighter in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The set is cut for the Su-33 kit from the brand Minibase, so the diameter and the seating depth match that particular mold. The manufacturer also makes a set for a kit from another brand for the same aircraft, which is why the intended fit matters. It is not an aircraft kit but replacement parts.
The AL-31F is a turbofan engine with an afterburner that powers the whole family of heavy Su-27 fighters, the carrier Su-33 included. The exhaust nozzle has a variable cross-section and is made up of an assembly of moving petals. On carrier equipment the nozzles tend to be markedly worn as well, because the machine often works at full power when launching from the ramp, and the heat discoloration is therefore more conspicuous than on land-based machines.
Release the nozzles from the supports with a scalpel and level the mating edge on abrasive paper on glass. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Spray the inside before you fit the nozzle to the fuselage. Build the heat discoloration up in very thin layers of transparent toning shades over a metallic base.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
