A resin set of exhaust nozzles for the RD-33 engines of a MiG-29 model in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. On a model the nozzle is one of the most conspicuous places: you can see into it, it is made up of dozens of thin petals and the plastic version is usually split into halves. Printing in resin manages this structure in one piece. It is not a kit but replacement parts for a model.
The RD-33 is a turbofan engine with an afterburner that powers the MiG-29 and its derived versions. The aircraft has two such engines set well apart, so both nozzles are clearly visible from behind and from the sides. The exhaust cross-section is changed by an assembly of moving petals, and the surface around the nozzle tends to be discolored by heat into blue-gray and rusty tones that cannot be missed on a parked machine.
Release the nozzles from the supports with a scalpel and level the mating edge on abrasive paper on glass. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Spray the inside before you fit the nozzle to the fuselage. Build the heat discoloration up in very thin layers of transparent toning shades over a metallic base, otherwise the result looks overdone.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
