The set contains 3D printed resin launchers on which the MiG-29 SMT carries guided missiles, in 1:32 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory for the load. The print holds the sharp edges of the rails, the attachment fittings and the small connectors, which in an injection mold are inevitably rounded off and simplified.
The MiG-29 SMT is the upgraded form of the tactical fighter with an enlarged fuselage spine and a wider range of weapons. The close-combat missiles are fired from rail launchers at the wingtips and under the wing, while the heavier weapons hang on pylons closer to the fuselage. The upgrade also brought the ability to carry newer types of missile, so the load differs from that of the original machines. For a model the pylons are the detail that decides whether the weapons sit correctly.
First wash the 3D printed parts in warm water with a little dish soap, so that they are rid of the residue of printing resin. Cut the supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and sand the marks down with your airways protected. Resin does not bond with cement for polystyrene, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Lay a thin coat of primer on before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on a smooth print. Assemble and paint the weapons separately and glue them onto the pylon only once the varnish has dried, so that the fine surfaces are not rubbed.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
