A resin R-27R air-to-air guided missile in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The resin print manages the thin lifting surfaces as well as the intricate control fins that a plastic mold cannot handle in a small scale. It is not an aircraft model but a separate store to be hung under a finished model.
The R-27 is a Soviet medium-range guided missile that makes up the main armament of the MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters. You will recognize it at a glance by the unusual lifting surfaces in the middle of the body, which widen toward the fuselage. The letter R stands for semi-active radar homing: the missile follows the reflection of the signal with which the parent aircraft's onboard radar illuminates the target, so the pilot has to keep the target in the sight until the hit.
Release the missile body from the supports on a work mat and without bending it. Sand the marks down with fine paper and wet sand, with respiratory protection. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Training rounds often have bold colored bands, while live ones carry restrained markings. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
