The set brings 3D printed landing gear wheels for the MiG-17 in 1:32 scale from Temp Models. It is not a model of the aircraft but a replacement for the parts from the kit: the printed wheel carries a crisper tread pattern, finer relief on the hub and a cleaner shape of the axle boss than an injection mold can give. For the sets of this range the manufacturer gives the nose wheel and the braked main wheels.
The MiG-17 followed on from the MiG-15 with a thinner and more pronouncedly swept wing, a longer fuselage and modified tail surfaces. The improvement concerned mainly the behavior at high subsonic speeds, where its predecessor had trouble. The aircraft was built and license-produced in enormous numbers and served for decades. The landing gear wheels stayed similarly sturdy as on the MiG-15 and are clearly visible on a model.
The parts are printed from resin and are held only by thin supports. Cut them off with a sharp scalpel as close to the part as possible, sand the marks down with fine sandpaper and protect your airways while sanding. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint holds longer on a smooth print if you lay a thin coat of primer under it. Paint the wheel in stages: the hub first, then mask it and finish the tire. Dust pigment holds in the tread pattern on its own.
The set is an addition to building a model, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
