A paint set from the ATOM range. The shades are chosen for a single theme: the Imperial Japanese Navy of the Second World War, in its first part. Check the list of shades against the manufacturer's information.
When you build a model for a particular period and armed force, the greatest work tends to lie in putting the palette together. A themed set skips that part: the shades are chosen so that they go together and cover the main areas as well as the details. You then complete the palette with just a few paints for the small things. It helps as well when you are taking on a given theme for the first time and are not sure which shades hold together.
The second benefit is practical: paints from one range mix with each other without surprises, so you can easily mix transitional tones for lightening edges or for shadows in the recesses.
Use the thinner meant for this range and the thinning ratio given by the manufacturer on the packaging. Stir every bottle thoroughly before work. Lay the paint on in thin coats over a degreased surface and let them dry; on large areas it pays to try the shade in advance on a piece of spare plastic, because in a reduced scale colors look darker than they do in reality.
The set contains paints. Thinner, primer, varnish, brushes and tools do not belong to it, unless stated otherwise.
