A themed paint set from the IONIC range aimed at the uniforms of Soviet soldiers of the Second World War. Their coloring keeps to khaki, that is to tones somewhere between greenish and brownish. No single shade can be looked for on Soviet uniforms, though: they differed according to the production batch of the cloth and faded quickly in the field as well, so two figures side by side had visibly different degrees of darkness to their uniforms.
It pays to make use of exactly that unevenness. If you shift the base tone slightly for each figure in a group, it will look more convincing than a row of identically painted soldiers. Stir the contents of the container thoroughly before picking the paint up, the pigment settles at the bottom. Apply thin coats and let each one dry, otherwise the folds and buttons will be lost under the paint. Let a darker tone settle into the folds and apply a lighter one to the edges. The thinner intended for this range and the thinning ratio are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging and those instructions take precedence; a thinner from another range may curdle the paint. Clean the brushes right after work.
For modelers who build crews and infantry to go with Soviet vehicles, and for builders of dioramas from the Eastern Front. Khaki tones also come into their own on equipment, haversacks and canvas, so the set serves beyond clothing alone.
The exact number of shades, their names and the volume of the containers are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging of the set. Figures, a model and painting tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
