About product

The set

The set is put together for the shades that the machines of the Luftwaffe carried in the first years of the war. The early scheme rested on a pair of dark green tones, RLM 70 and RLM 71, applied to the upper surfaces in sharply bounded fields, while the lower surfaces stayed in the light blue RLM 65. The gray shade RLM 02 belonged in the cockpits, on the landing gear bays and on parts of the airframe. Which particular shades the set contains and how many there are is given on the packaging.

Where you will use the shades

The set covers builds of machines from the end of the 1930s and from the first campaigns of the war, that is the period when the upper camouflage was still dark and the boundary between the fields hard. It also suits additional work in cockpits and on small areas where the gray shade comes into its own whatever the type of machine. You will use it on fighters as well as bombers of the early period. In large scales it pays to lighten the shade slightly before applying it, so that the dark green does not look like a black area on the model.

Application and thinning

Mix the paints thoroughly before use, because the pigment settles to the bottom when it stands. Apply in thin coats and let them become tacky, because a single heavy coat floods the engraving and dries unevenly. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer instructions on the packaging, both for spraying and for the brush. Wash and degrease the model before painting, and create the hard boundaries of the fields with masking tape applied before spraying and lifted off as soon as the paint has become tacky.

Terms of supply

The set of paints is supplied in its package. Thinner, brushes, an airbrush and the model are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
