Responsibility details are not available.
The first volume of a profile guide to the wars in the Middle East between 1948 and 1973. The designation profile guide means that the weight of such a book lies in illustrations of particular machines and their modifications, not in a continuous account of history. Check the extent, the language and the make-up of the volume against the contents of the particular edition.
Between 1948 and 1973 several short and very intense conflicts took place in the region. The equipment that fought in them came from both sides of the Cold War and often met on the same battlefield: Western machines against Soviet ones, frequently in the hands of several armies at once. For a modeler it is attractive precisely because on a single type you can find modifications, markings and colors that differ noticeably from European and American practice.
Desert and semi-desert schemes tempt you to build them by eye. Reference material on the period helps to keep a sense of proportion: a shade fades differently in the sun there than in Europe, dust settles in different places than mud does, and tactical markings tend to be short-lived and quickly painted over. The book is also useful for choosing in advance which particular modification you will build.
For modelers who build equipment from this period and want support for color and markings instead of guesswork, and for readers whom the subject interests in its own right. It goes well together with desert shades and with decal sheets for the same period.
This is a printed publication. No modeling goods are packed with it, unless stated otherwise.
