A resin set of landing gear wheels for a MiG-29K model in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models, carrying the suffix 3D in its name. The set replaces the wheels from a plastic kit, on which the parting line of the mold always shows. Printing in resin manages the tread pattern and the detailed hub in one piece. It is not an aircraft kit but replacement parts.
The carrier MiG-29K is adapted for operation from an aircraft carrier: it has a folding wing, strengthened landing gear and an arrestor hook. It is the landing gear that is stressed most on carrier machines, because the aircraft meets the deck with its full weight and without flaring, and the wheels therefore differ from the land-based version. For a modeler that means it is worth reaching for parts intended expressly for the carrier machine.
Cut the supports off after printing with a scalpel and level the spot, so that the wheel stands square to the leg. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Paint the tire a very dark gray and the hub separately, following the real thing. Salt spray on a deck leaves light deposits, so weathering toward gray looks more faithful than brown dust.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
