A resin set of landing gear legs for a model of the MiG-31 interceptor in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. For the sets in this series the manufacturer states printing from a strong polymer reinforced with steel pins, and the extended position with the lines, the landing lights and a fender picked out. On a model this heavy, the strength of the legs is fundamental. It is not an aircraft kit but replacement parts.
The MiG-31 is among the heaviest combat aircraft ever to take off from ordinary airfields, and its landing gear therefore has an unusual solution: the main legs carry a pair of wheels one behind the other, slightly offset to the sides, so that the weight is spread over a larger area. The assembly is massive, full of struts and hydraulics, and on a model a viewer cannot overlook it.
Release the parts from the supports with a scalpel and level the mating faces, so that both wheels on a leg stand in one plane. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Spray the legs before fitting and bring the lines out with a dark tone. A faint oil weep suits the area around the shock struts.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
