Waterproof sanding paper from the Japanese brand Gunze in 800 grit, supplied in packs of twenty-four sheets. The paper stands up to wet sanding, so the sanded dust is not driven into the pores of the surface and does not swirl into the air. Grit 800 is the typical medium value used to smooth out the marks left by coarser sanding.

Where this grit comes into its own

• leveling sanded filler on the seams of a fuselage
• removing the scratches left by coarser sanding papers
• evening out parting lines and the remains of sprue gates
• preparing the surface before spraying a filler primer

How to handle the paper

A sheet is cut into smaller pieces and stuck onto a flat backing so that the sanded area does not dish. For wet work it is enough to dip the paper in water with a drop of dish soap and rinse it as you go. There is no need to press; the grit does the work, not the strength of your hand. Once the sanding is done, wash the part and let it dry thoroughly, and only then carry on with filler primer or paint.
