1:72 COE (Cab Over Engine), Heavy Duty Truck m.1939 is a kit of the American heavy truck with the cab over the engine, completed with photo-etch and decals.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of an American heavy truck with the cab over the engine, in 1:72 scale. Besides the plastic, the package contains a photo-etched fret and decals. The abbreviation COE designates the arrangement in which the cab sits directly above the engine rather than behind it, which shortens the overall length of the vehicle and leaves more room for the load.
Trucks with the cab over the engine caught on in America at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s, because in heavy traffic they had a smaller turning circle and made better use of the permitted length of a rig. The short, stubby cab with a flat front is unmistakable and sets this type apart from ordinary conventional trucks. Machines of this class served in civilian traffic as well as with army and reserve units, and in period photographs they appear hauling goods as well as with tanker and fire-fighting bodies.
In 1:72 scale the build is small, so cut the parts off with nippers and sand the remains of the gates carefully. Bend the photo-etched parts over a metal edge and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. The cab tends to be the most visible part, so it pays to give it time and possibly to replace the thick window frames with photo-etch. A civilian finish takes a deep color with a light gloss coat, while a military one calls instead for a matte surface, dust and mud on the chassis.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
